Center Amenities
The Senior Center has various facility amenities that are available for all members during operating hours from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.
Fitness Center

The fitness center is open during operating hours for all members to use. There is a variety of equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, NuStep, free weights, row machine, fitness mats, yoga balls, and multi-stack machine. We also offer a fitness orientation class to inform members about the proper use of our equipment for safe exercise.
Fitness Classes

We have a variety of fitness classes available to our members including Drums Alive, Tai Chi, and Circuit Aerobics. Each class has a trained instructor that will guide you through the class. Class schedules are listed on the monthly calendar. To learn more about any specific class, call the Senior Center or stop by for information!
Programs and Classes

We host many different programs every month including bingo, holiday parties, lunch and learn, trivia, educational programs, medical seminars, tax aid, art classes, card club, music circle, and more! All of these programs vary from month to month and are shared on our monthly calendar.
Trips

We take trips every month on our bus with a trained volunteer bus driver. The trips available range from month to month. We have taken longer day trips to the Biltmore, Omni Grove Park Inn, Barter Theatre, Pigeon Forge, Bays Mountain, Brights Zoo, and more! We also take lunch, bowling, and shopping trips to various places in the surrounding area. All sign ups for trips will be in the office with the appropriate details available for you.
Computer Lab and Technical Assistance

We have new computers, tablets, iPads, and printing capabilities for our members. Use of the computer lab is free to our members for anything you need to borrow a computer for. We also have tablets and iPads with downloaded brain games and other useful apps that can be checked out for use at the Senior Center. We also host a technical assistance class in conjunction with the Unicoi County High School every so often to allow for our members to learn how to use the technical equipment that they already own for easier personal use.
Borrowing Library

Our library is a small, self-serve library in which members can borrow any of the books for however long they wish. We also accept donations of books to add to the rotation in our library so we have a new selection to choose from. We also have a library card with the Unicoi County Public Library to enable us to have access to their audiobook library. While members are at the Senior Center, they are able to download and listen to audiobooks on our iPads and tablets and use our available headphones to enjoy personally.
Billiards

This area of the Senior Center is available anytime during operating hours for all of our members, and is also where we host billiards tournaments. We also have a group of gentlemen that meet every morning at 8am as well as a group of ladies that meet every Wednesday at 1pm.
Veterans Food Truck

Did you know that you could be receiving a monthly box of food once a month at no cost to you if you are a veteran or widow/widower of a veteran? This resource is brought to you by the Second Harvest Food Bank as they partner with us to serve the veterans and their families in our community. All you will need is something to validate yourself as a veteran on your first visit. There is always a variety of items that they bring that changes from month to month, but some examples include a box of canned and shelf-stable foods, frozen meat, seasonal fruits and vegetables, milk, cheese, and more! We have the Veteran's Food Truck come every second Tuesday of the month. Vehicles can line up on the service road behind the Senior Center at 11:30am with food distribution beginning at 12:00pm. We ask that you stay in your vehicle once you are in line and simply drive where you are directed. You will get signed in by a volunteer, and then other volunteers will pack your vehicle for you for a drive-through experience.
Congregate Meals and Meals on Wheels Distribution Center

The Senior Center is a distribution site of the Meals on Wheels program so we are also able to receive those same meals Monday-Friday for lunch at 11am as a congregate meal in our dining room. There is a monthly calendar with the meal selection that is available, and membership is not a requirement to eat lunch with us. Sign ups for meals are three days in advance, and a suggested $3 donation will cover the cost of the meal. Homebound meals through Meals on Wheels is set up through their organization. If you would like to receive homebound meals, you may call (423) 928-3258. Be sure to leave a message if you don't receive an answer, and they will respond back within two days.
